GYO GREENS uses a sustainable farming method which combines traditional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals - in our case, fish - in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. All produce is grown naturally and without the use of pesticides.
Here are some of our aquaponics education topics:
Our education program is only for students wanting to complement their Science and Math curriculum with projects at our site.
Please note we do not offer commercial aquaponics training.
If you are an educator interested in bringing your students to learn and tour the farm, please contact Suzanne Whelan. Suzanne will assist you on planning your school visit to our farm and provide detailed guidelines. You can reach her via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. School tours require at least 10 students but can accommodate up to 20 max. We can do tours on Wednesday mornings at 10 or 11 only. School tours are $30 for 20 students and 2 adults. Additional adults are $10/ea up to a maximum of 4 adults. Checks are payable 30 days prior to tour and can be refunded with at least one week of cancellation notice. Tours last approximately 45 - 60 min.
Visit the GYO GREENS Aquaponic Farm for an interesting and educational introduction to aquaponics, organic and sustainable practices. You can expect for your tour to last for 1 hour and give you a broad overview of farm systems, designs and theory. There will be some produce available for purchase as well. These tours fill up fast and we can only accommodate those who reserve a spot in advance. Tour fee is $10 per person. Once you tour our farm, you may want to create an aquaponic system of your own!
Farm tours are offered during the fall and Spring. Please visit our website often or Facebook page for tour dates.
If you would like to have a more personalized visit with one of our Gyo Greens Team, consider scheduling a private visit. Private tours are available by appointment only. Private tours are more flexible in length and cost $100 for up to four guests and $15 for each additional person. The private tours allow for more specific questions than what can be properly addressed during a group tour. These tours include an overview of our farm systems, design and theory.

See you at the farm!
